The digital illusion
I gave up much more than just the film roll when I started taking pictures with a digital camera. The magical moment when a photo appeared in the developing tray occurred in the physical world. A file of zeros and ones created by the camera's sensor and software is in the digital domain. It is not a photo actualy.
A digital recording exists by the grace of devices that can read the code and create an image from it. Countless, glowing dots on my computer screen make me believe I am looking at a photo. I only understood the meaning of this much later.
